The CEO of DEPA Commercial, Mr. Konstantinos Xifaras, took part at the meeting organized by the US Embassy at the offices of the Hellenic Industries Association (SVE) in Thessaloniki, in the presence of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. K. Hatzidakis.
During the round table discussion, Mr. Hatzidakis presented to Mr. Pompeo the progress of the five energy projects that are estimated to upgrade Greece’s geostrategic position in the Balkans and promote the goal of diversifying energy sources and routes in Europe. More specifically, extensive reference was made to the five major transnational energy projects (the TAP gas pipelines, IGB and the Greece-Northern Macedonia interconnector, the FSRU Alexandroupolis and the upgrading of the existing oil pipeline between Greece and Northern Macedonia). These projects can turn Greece into an energy hub in the Balkans while promoting the diversification of energy sources and routes.
Mr. Pompeo, during the meeting, expressed his support for the projects.
After the meeting, Mr. Xifaras stated:
“We actively support the five key energy projects that will upgrade Greece’s geostrategic position and put into practice the necessary diversification of energy sources and routes in Europe. DEPA, gaining an increasingly primary role in the next day of action, remains committed to advancing the strategic goals of the country and the ministry, with all its forces“.
