The Greek company Gastrade signed today, an agreement for the acquisition of 20% of its share capital by DESFA.
The agreement was signed in Athens by the Founding Shareholder & Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gastrade, Mrs. Elmina Kopelouzou and the CEO of DESFA, Mr. Nicola Battilana in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis. DEPA Commerce was represented by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ioannis Papadopoulos and the CEO Mr. Konstantinos Xifaras.
Gastrade is developing the LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) offshore Alexandroupolis, which will be a new, independent energy gateway for the markets of Southeastern and Central Europe.
This is a European Project of Common Interest (PCI – EU Regulation 347/2013), a priority project of the EU, which has a strategic role in the region of Southeastern Europe and will contribute significantly to the penetration of LNG in the region. Furthermore, this project is expected to strengthen Greece’s energy security, liquidity and efficiency, as well as enhance its role in Southeastern Europe, offering opportunities for new natural gas exports in the area.
