The Institute of Preventive, Environmental & Occupational Medicine, Prolepsis, implements for the 4th consecutive school year the food-aid and healthy eating promotion programme “DIATROFI” under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and with main funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
“DIATROFI” programme aims at addressing children’s inadequate feeding and preventing health problems associated with bad nutritious habits. The program started in April 2012 and 406 schools with 61,870 students participated in the previous school year. It is for public school students of socioeconomically vulnerable areas and has a twofold objective: to provide all students with a free healthy meal and to promote health through healthy eating habits for both the students and their families.
DEPA has been supporting “DIATROFI” programme since January 2015 by helping schools all over Greece with 5,197 meals to date.
