The subsea pipe, with 14’’ diameter, connecting Avlida, Attica, with Vassiliko, Euboea, was successfully placed on 14.09.2012 using the drilling method, at 20m depth under the sea floor. High-technology equipment from Italy was used under the guidance of Greek and foreign technicians.
The subsea pipe is part of the medium- & low-pressure natural gas network, of 63 km length, supplying Euboea with natural gas. The network starts from Schimatari and crosses the South Euboean gulf through the Coast and Faros of Avlida, up to Agios Nikolaos.
The construction works of the network are expected to have finished by the end of 2012. This network is the basic gas supply infrastructure for the areas of Chalkida, Artaki, Psahna, and Vassiliko of the Prefecture of Euboea.
