The Workshop of IENE (Institute of Energy for Southeast Europe) was held on the “Opening up the Western Balkans Energy Market” on Wednesday, 7 March 2012, in Belgrade. More than 70 participants from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece participated in the Workshop which was held with the cooperation of the Serbian Energy Regulator, AERS, as well as representatives of international and regional agencies (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD, European Federation of Energy Traders-EFET, Energy Community etc). The event focused on the basic energy challenges faced by the Western Balkans, which are in a reconstruction phase, while at the same time the region is a very promising energy route for the whole of Europe.
DEPA was represented in the said Workshop by Mr. Kosmas, Director of Corporate Affairs & Communication, who delivered a speech about the challenges of the regional natural gas market in the second session. Upon the conclusion of the sessions, a discussion followed about the critical issues of the transition of the Western Balkans to the European framework and conclusions were drawn which were presented by the coordinators of the event.
