DEPA participated in CERAWeek 2012 – a conference on the energy market – held on 5-9 March, in Huston, Texas, with the President and CEO, Mr. Harry Sachinis, who was one of the key speakers.
Mr. Sachinis in his speech gave special emphasis on the importance of ITGI, clarifying that, irrespective of the decision of the consortium managing the Shah Denise 2 gas field, ITGI, as a double flow pipeline, should be implemented interconnecting Greece with Italy and the rest of Europe so as to provide the required supply security in the wider area of SE Europe. Apart from the Caspian Sea deposit, other supply sources for ITGI might be the deposits of the Middle East and SE Mediterranean.
Furthermore, with regard to DEPA, Mr. Sachinis stressed that in continuation of the successful course of the last two years, despite the financial crisis, DEPA can play a strategic role in the energy developments in Southeast Europe based both on its strong position in the Greek market as well as in the mature plans of corporate development promoted by DEPA in recent years.
