Development 2012\u201d, held by the Institute of Energy for Southeast Europe (IENE <i>in<\/i><i>Greek<\/i>), in Athens, on 30 &amp; 31 October 2012. The Conference included speeches and presentations by prestigious speakers from Greece and abroad as well as round tables of the market players. It was a field of fruitful dialogue about the recent developments in the energy and environment sector in Greece and internationally, the analysis of trends and perspectives, exchange of opinions and drawing useful conclusions. The Conference was under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Energy &amp; Climate Change and the keynote speaker was the Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Mr. Makis Papageorgiou.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">DEPA was represented on the first day of the conference by Mr. Harry Sachinis, President &amp; CEO, who talked about the actions made by DEPA for the decrease of natural gas prices. \u00a0In this framework, the company\u2019s management has achieved a decrease in the supply prices from Gazprom, and is in a negotiation phase with the Algerian company, Sonatrach, trying to achieve corresponding decreases. Furthermore, Mr. Sachinis underlined both the need of direct promotion of interconnections and the need to create gas trading hubs so as to establish the conditions of a more competitive natural gas market operation and the natural gas prices to be shaped at the lowest levels, in accordance with the natural gas prices in central Europe. He also stressed that DEPA intents to undertake a series of initiatives for the facilitation of its customers, such as the possibility of choosing between two types of contracts (one including both the natural gas supply and transmission and one without the transmission part), the access of the customers to DEPA\u2019s supply portfolio via electronic auctions, the LNG purchase and sale within the Revythousa tank, the concession of bound capacity at entry points without consideration etc. Furthermore, the President of DEPA stressed that for the current year (2012-2013), the natural gas price will be more than 30% lower than the respective fuel oil price.
