Its aim was to attract the interest of enterprises active in the fields of natural gas and oil at a national and international level. Heads and representatives of the biggest international energy and natural gas companies presented their positions for future development investments and the prospect of strengthening the natural gas supply safety in the wider region of Eastern Mediterranean, the Caspian, Central Asia and the Gulf region. DEPA was represented by Mr. Dimitrios Manolis, Director of Monitoring International Projects, who delivered a speech.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Manolis highlighted that one of the objectives of DEPA is to assume a leading role in the region, by developing the necessary infrastructures for the natural gas supply from various sources in competitive prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DEPA has had an active contribution in the opening procedure of the South Corridor as evidenced by the promotion of related projects, such as: the Greek-Italian IGI pipeline, the Greek-Bulgarian IGB pipeline, the North Greece LNG terminal \u201cAegean LNG\u201d and the East Med pipeline from Eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More specifically, the IGB pipeline is the key interconnection and has been recognized as a project of national significance both by Greece as well as by Bulgaria, while its significance has also been acknowledged by the EU which shall give EUR 45 million from its budget for its implementation. The project has possibilities of strong synergies with the TAP pipeline, Mr. Manolis stressed, to the benefit of SE Europe and these synergies should be tried to be achieved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The decision of the Shah Deniz 2 joint venture partners, which is expected at the end of the month, is of vital importance for Greece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DEPA is trying to secure additional natural gas quantities for the Greek market in competitive prices which shall reflect the development of the market; this means that they shall be based on real market prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Manolis, concluding, underlined that DEPA is committed to further strengthen the contribution of the South Corridor for the energy security of the region and actively states that it is present in all developments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2013 Mediterranean Oil &amp; Gas Conference was held for the fourth consecutive year in our country, on 12 &amp; 13 June, in Athens.
