Athens, 15 September 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

North Solar, a wholly owned subsidiary of DEPA Commercial, held an open information meeting with the residents of Galatini on Sunday, 13 September, in the village’s central square, as part of its ongoing efforts to keep the local community informed and maintain an open dialogue regarding the development of the 350 MW photovoltaic projects in the area.<\/p>\n

With the square filled with residents, company representatives provided a detailed presentation of the project, and, above all, the specific benefits planned for Galatini. An open discussion followed, giving residents the opportunity to ask questions and express their views and concerns.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the presentation was the overall programme of benefits, projects and initiatives by DEPA Commercial \/ North Solar, amounting to more than \u20ac35 million over the project’s entire lifespan, with the aim of ensuring that the benefits of the investment are returned to the local community in a tangible and measurable way.<\/p>\n

Direct Benefits for Households<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the construction period and for an additional two years, free electricity and free natural gas will be provided to residential consumers in Galatini through Fysiko Aerio Hellenic Energy Company. Based on indicative calculations presented at the meeting, the annual energy savings could exceed \u20ac2,000 per household, depending on its size and consumption levels.<\/p>\n

Support will continue beyond the free-supply period through special discounted electricity and natural gas packages throughout the commercial operation of the projects. In addition, upon commencement of operations, the special Renewable Energy Sources (RES) levy will come into effect. Through this mechanism, part of the relevant funds will be returned to eligible residents through their electricity bills, while another part will be allocated to the local government of the Municipality of Voio for projects and initiatives.<\/p>\n

Supporting Livestock Farmers and the Local Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Particular emphasis was placed on livestock farmers affected by the project. Depending on their needs and where the relevant conditions are met, the support plan includes compensation, relocation where necessary, animal feed and watering troughs, improvements to livestock passageways, pastureland upgrades and support for livestock assets. In July, 20 tonnes of animal feed had already been delivered to livestock farmers in Galatini.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the project generates demand for personnel and services. As highlighted during the meeting, the objective is to utilise local personnel during the construction phase, wherever the required professional specialisations are available. Employment opportunities will also arise during the operational phase, primarily in security and maintenance. Similarly, the company aims to develop partnerships with professionals and businesses in Galatini wherever feasible.<\/p>\n

The programme is further complemented by initiatives focusing on fire protection, the maintenance of forest roads, pastureland improvements and local infrastructure, as well as activities in the fields of health, education, culture and sports. North Solar has already responded to requests from local organisations by providing equipment to the Municipality of Voio and covering part of the operational needs of the Voio Police Department and the Tsotyli Forestry Office.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, residents received informational material outlining both the project’s benefits and the four communication channels established by North Solar, enabling every resident to submit questions, requests and proposals and receive a response.<\/p>\n
