Alexandroupolis, 25 February 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the new power plant being developed by PPC Group and DEPA Commercial in Alexandroupolis today, accompanied by DEPA Commercial CEO Konstantinos Xifaras.<\/p>\n

The tour of the facilities was led by Konstantinos Paizis, Deputy CEO and Chief of Conventional Generation at PPC Group, who briefed the Prime Minister and DEPA Commercial\u2019s CEO on the project\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n

Construction is progressing rapidly and in line with the planned schedule. The project is at an advanced stage, reflecting effective cooperation among all parties involved.<\/p>\n

Construction of the new natural gas-fired combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant is in its final stages. With an installed capacity of 840 MW and a high efficiency rate that makes it one of the most competitive plants of its type, the facility represents an investment of \u20ac400 million by Alexandroupolis Electropower Generation S.A., a joint venture between PPC Group (71%) and DEPA Commercial (29%). The plant is being built by DAMCO Energy, part of the Copelouzos Group, in the Alexandroupolis Industrial Area. Under the current schedule, it is expected to becom operational in 2027, strengthening Alexandroupolis\u2019s role in the wider region\u2019s energy landscape.<\/p>\n

The plant will be connected to the National Natural Gas Transmission System and the Alexandroupolis Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), reinforcing Greece\u2019s role as an energy hub for Southeast Europe.<\/p>\n

For DEPA Commercial, its participation in the Alexandroupolis power plant forms part of its vertical integration strategy and the Group\u2019s broader transformation. It strengthens the Group\u2019s presence in power generation and creates synergies across the energy value chain.<\/p>\n

DEPA Commercial CEO Konstantinos Xifaras of noted:<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we <\/em>gave the Prime Minister a tour of the construction site of this state-of-the-art power plant, which represents a substantial investment in the country\u2019s energy security. It adds reliable and flexible capacity to the system and reinforces Greece\u2019s role as a regional energy hub.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cTogether with PPC Group, which I thank for our excellent cooperation, we are moving forward in a coordinated way, with construction progressing on schedule. I would also like to thank DAMCO Energy for carrying out the construction effectively and to a high standard, as well as PPC Group\u2019s Deputy CEO and Chief of Conventional Generation, Mr Alexios Paizis, for his excellent work in ensuring that every phase of the project is properly coordinated.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
