ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE S.A.<\/strong>, the joint venture in which AKTOR Group holds a 60% stake and DEPA Commercial a 40% stake<\/strong>, signed on Friday, 30 January 2026<\/strong>, its first agreement for the sale of U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG<\/strong>) to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The agreement concerns the supply of LNG, with BP as the supplier and Ukraine\u2019s Naftogaz as the buyer<\/strong>, marking the launch of ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE\u2019s commercial activities in the regional natural gas market.<\/p>\n

First cargo to be delivered in March via Greece<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first LNG cargo will arrive at the Revithoussa LNG Terminal<\/strong>, with delivery to Ukraine scheduled for March. The volumes will be transported via Route 1<\/strong> (Greece \u2013 Bulgaria \u2013 Romania \u2013 Moldova \u2013 Ukraine<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The maximum volume transported may reach 1 million MWh (1 TWh)<\/strong>, depending on the available capacity of the natural gas transmission system operators.<\/p>\n

The agreement represents ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE\u2019s first major commercial transaction since its establishment last November and contributes to the further utilisation of the Vertical Corridor<\/strong> in Southeast Europe, enabling natural gas to be transported from Greece to Ukraine through interconnected infrastructure.<\/p>\n

ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE has already entered into a long-term agreement with Venture Global for the supply of LNG from the United States, commencing in 2030.<\/p>\n

Xifaras: \u201cWe are moving from planning to implementation\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE Chairman and DEPA Commercial Chief Executive Officer Konstantinos Xifaras<\/strong> stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe agreement signed on 30 January marks the beginning of a new phase for ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE and for Greece\u2019s role on the European energy map.<\/p>\n

With the delivery of the first U.S. LNG cargo in March, we are moving from planning to implementation, commercially leveraging the infrastructure of the Vertical Corridor, which strengthens interconnectivity and the diversification of supply sources across the wider region.<\/p>\n

Greece is emerging as a gateway and transit hub for U.S. LNG towards Southeast and Central Europe, making a tangible contribution to Europe\u2019s energy security and resilience, while also supporting Ukraine at a particularly critical juncture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exarchou: \u201cThe Vertical Corridor is becoming a reality\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

ATLANTIC SEE LNG TRADE Chief Executive Officer and AKTOR Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alexandros Exarchou<\/strong> stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this agreement, the Vertical Corridor is becoming a reality, opening up a route that will not only contribute to Europe\u2019s energy security but also generate significant benefits for the Greek economy.<\/p>\n

It is the European Union\u2019s responsibility to support the Vertical Corridor at every level if it wishes to send a meaningful message of consistency between words and actions regarding the ban on Russian natural gas imports \u2014 both directly and indirectly through infrastructure in third countries, as clearly provided for in the recent European regulation.<\/p>\n

Energy is a critical and decisive factor for the competitiveness of European businesses and the prosperity of European citizens, and the use of the Vertical Corridor can make a real difference across the wider region at a time of major geopolitical shifts.\u201d<\/p>\n
