{"id":19921,"date":"2025-10-08T12:23:41","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T09:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.depa.gr\/?p=19921"},"modified":"2026-08-05T17:21:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T14:21:41","slug":"meeting-of-the-minister-of-environment-and-energy-with-the-management-of-depa-commercial-s-a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.depa.gr\/en\/meeting-of-the-minister-of-environment-and-energy-with-the-management-of-depa-commercial-s-a\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting of the Minister of Environment and Energy with the Management of DEPA Commercial S.A."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DEPA Commercial: A key component of Greece\u2019s new energy architecture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Athens, October 7, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A working meeting was held in an excellent atmosphere at the headquarters of DEPA Commercial S.A., between the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, the Deputy Minister, Mr. Nikos Tsafos, and the management of DEPA Commercial, led by Chairman of the Board, Mr. Antonios Diamataris, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Konstantinos Xifaras.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting focused on the country\u2019s energy strategy for the next four years, the progress of DEPA Commercial\u2019s strategic transformation, and the company\u2019s role as a guarantor of supply security, through the utilization of nationally significant infrastructure and the strategic diversification of energy sources and technologies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Statement by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy concerns every household and every business. At the same time, it is a developmental, geopolitical, and national security instrument. Our country continues to invest steadily and effectively in the energy transition, promoting energy security, the hydrocarbon sector through the Chevron\u2013Helleniq Energy partnership, and renewable energy sources, while upgrading key infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, together with Deputy Minister Mr. Tsafos, we held a working meeting with Chairman Mr. Diamataris and CEO Mr. Xifaras of DEPA, during which we discussed the company\u2019s future prospects. DEPA Commercial stands at the forefront of the vertical energy corridor, utilizing the Revithoussa terminal and the Alexandroupolis FSRU, and operating through the DESFA pipelines and the IGB interconnector, extending its reach to Moldova, Hungary, and Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>In doing so, it contributes to enhancing competitiveness and strengthening our country\u2019s role as a major energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, while advancing the **transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Statement by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Nikos Tsafos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDEPA today plays a central role not only in Greece but also in the wider Southeast European energy market. Domestically, the company is evolving into a vertically integrated player with a presence in natural gas and electricity, while abroad it serves as a reliable and competitive supplier.<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing transformation of DEPA is one of the key priorities of this government, and the company\u2019s successes are also national achievements, elevating Greece\u2019s position during a critical period when all of Europe is seeking alternative natural gas suppliers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Statement by the Chairman of DEPA Commercial, Mr. Antonios Diamataris<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDEPA Commercial is not just an institutional energy pillar but a forward-looking and adaptive group, transforming in line with the country\u2019s needs and the market\u2019s opportunities. Our role in the national energy mix is crucial \u2014 both for the operational security of the system and for strengthening Greece\u2019s strategic position in Southeast Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Our meeting with the Ministry\u2019s leadership reaffirms our strong cooperation and our commitment to continue along this path with technical expertise, long-term strategy, and a focus on the green transition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Statement by the CEO of DEPA Commercial, Mr. Konstantinos Xifaras<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDEPA Commercial is steadily advancing a comprehensive operational and investment transformation, with a clear objective: to become a fully integrated energy company, capable of combining trading, production, and participation in new energy technologies.<\/p>\n<p>We are already active in thermal power generation, renewable energy, biomethane, and hydrogen, and we are constantly expanding our energy footprint with responsibility and technical competence.
