Athens, November 18, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification station to supply a Combined Cooling, Heat, and Power (CCHP)<\/strong> unit has been put into operation. Designed and implemented by DEPA Commercial<\/strong> in Dimitra, Serres, this facility expands the network of small-scale LNG (ssLNG) installations, bringing the benefits of natural gas to remote areas and customers off the main gas grid.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the LNG regasification installation, designed and completed by DEPA Commercial, is intended to supply the greenhouse of Dimitra Sun E.E. in Dimitra, Serres. This paves the way for connecting a remote primary sector production unit, which uses CCHP to cover its thermal needs, to the LNG supply. This application represents a significant step in supplying industries located off the natural gas network.<\/p>\n

This supply is part of DEPA Commercial\u2019s strategy to extend natural gas access throughout Greece, particularly to remote regions not connected to the national transmission network, supporting the green transition and the country\u2019s climate goals. Within this strategy, last month the LNG Storage and Regasification Station in Kastoria was filled, enabling supply to Kastoria and Argos Orestiko. By the end of 2024, Florina and the Patras Industrial Area will also be connected.<\/p>\n

The application of CCHP technology in the agricultural sector, and specifically in greenhouses, provides significant benefits, reducing energy costs while increasing crop productivity.<\/p>\n

Mr. Petros Panou<\/strong>, Head of CNG\/ssLNG at DEPA Commercial, stated:
\n“DEPA Commercial continues to offer modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly energy solutions, steadily expanding the small-scale LNG network that delivers natural gas to industrial customers without grid access. Today\u2019s connection is a major first step in developing greenhouses off the gas network, providing low energy costs, increased productivity, and reduced environmental footprint.”<\/em><\/p>\n

From the side of Dimitra Sun E.E., the company representative said:
\n“Our cooperation with DEPA Commercial is a milestone for the development of our facility. Using natural gas via CCHP allows us to reduce operational costs, improve crop quality, and contribute to lowering emissions.
