In our country, the first national project SEKEE (Important Project of Common European Interest \/ IPCEI), the White Dragon, of which DEPA Commercaial is the coordinator, is designed in Western Macedonia and mainly aims to ensure adequate supply of district heating after the removal of lignite plants. This project comes to support the Region of Western Macedonia, which is most affected by decarbonization and which depends on the district heating system that currently operates with lignite.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The CEO of DEPA, Mr. Konstantinos Xifaras, stated the following: \u201cIt is great to see that the Alliance has an inclusive character and is geographically balanced, giving access to countries that are not the usual suspects when it comes to renewable energy and innovation. It is clear that the decarbonization of buildings is of major importance and hydrogen will play a decisive role in achieving European climate goals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">DEPA Commercial is currently paving the way for the realization and the development of hydrogen technologies in Greece. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The commitment of the Greek Government to shut down all lignite-fired power plants, puts Greece and especially the Region of Western Macedonia to a major energy supply problem which extends to the district heating networks that are providing heat to the 3 major cities of the region.
