Poseidon Med II


DEPA is the coordinator of POSEIDON MED II project. Poseidon Med II project is a practical roadmap which aims to bring about the wide adoption of LNG as a safe, environmentally efficient and viable alternative fuel for shipping and help the East Mediterranean marine transportation propel towards a low-carbon future. The project, which is co-funded by the European Union, involves three countries Greece, Italy and Cyprus, six European ports (Piraeus, Patras, Limassol, Venice, Heraklion, Igoumenitsa) as well as the Revithoussa LNG terminal. The project brings together top experts from the marine, energy and financial sectors to design an integrated LNG value chain and establish a well-functioning and sustainable LNG market.

CYNERGY




CYnergy project is a holistic approach towards the establishment of a Natural Gas (NG) system in Cyprus aiming to end the energy isolation of the island through establishing strategic synergies between the sectors of Energy and Transport. Embarking on turning Cyprus into an energy hub in the East Mediterranean, CYnergy targets the development of a sustainable and fully functional NG/LNG market for providing clean and affordable energy to the end user. The project, which is co-financed by the EU, is a collaboration of energy, transport and finance experts as well as public and governmental institutions of Cyprus and Greece

SUPERGREEN


Co-financed by the EU, SuperGreen Action implements a holistic approach in the transport of Greek urban and insular territories. It introduces the era of innovation by providing cost and time efficient transportation systems, using multimodal solutions and tools, raising, at the same time, stakeholders’ environmental awareness. Accompanied by an innovative information platform enhancing traveler’s experience, SuperGreen involves:

  • the construction of three all-electric commuter vessels and one hybrid propulsion (LNG & Electric) catamaran that will connect the Core TEN-T Port of Piraeus to other ports of the Comprehensive TEN-T network,

BlueHUBS


BlueHUBS: LNG and CNG Supply chains upgrading Core TEN-T Ports in Eastern Mediterranean (“Action”)The Action is Motorways of the Sea wider benefit project, contributing to environmental gains in maritime transport. It aims at establishing the fundamental supply chains for the distribution of Natural Gas to port users in the forms of LNG for vessels and LNG/CNG for port heavy duty vehicles and buses.

The Action upgrades important parts of the Orient/East-Med Corridor by providing LNG and CNG bunkering and refueling facilities in the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol (in Cyprus) and the Core TEN-T ports of Piraeus and Heraklion (in Greece) and by setting a new intermodal sea-based system, integrated in the logistic chain.

Consistent with the overall EU strategy for a more resource-efficient Europe, the Action utilizes alternative energy sources in a way that the environmental impact is minimized.

It focuses on:

  1. The construction of two LNG Bunkering vessels (indicative capacity 3.000 m3 each) serving the purposes of bunkering LNG fueled vessels at the Ports of Piraeus, Heraklion and Limassol and the small-scale mobile LCNG stations to service the ports of Heraklion and Limassol:
  • One registered in Core TEN-T Port of Piraeus
  • One registered in Core Ten-t Port of Limassol
  1. The development, procurement and commissioning of:
  • One mobile LCNG Station (indicative capacity 200m3) to service the Core TEN-T Port of Heraklion
  • Two Mobile LCNG Stations (indicative capacity 60m3 each) to service the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) for bunkering LNG fueled vessels and refueling the LNG/CNG for port heavy duty vehicles and buses
  1. The procurement of small fleet of eight LNG Tanker Trucks (indicative capacity 50m3 each) with bunkering equipment:
  • Five based in the Core TEN-T Port of Heraklion and
  • Three based in the Core TEN-T Port of Limassol
