Companies to be Established

 

EPA in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

 
DEPA having already developed approximately 150km of medium and low pressure network infrastructure plans to establish the EPA of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which will be active in the following counties: Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Rodopi and Evros. According to 2001 census, 5.6% of Greece's population resides in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which is equivalent to 611,067 inhabitants.

The area to be covered is 14,157 square kilometers, representing 10.7% of the total area of Greece. The EPA  of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will also include the cities of Komotini, Xanthi, Alexandroupolis, Kavala and Drama, where there is high concentration of industries.
 

EPA in Central Macedonia

 
The geographical areas in which DEPA has already developed low and medium pressure network infrastructure is about 140 kilometers.  The geographical regions of activity of the EPA of Central Macedonia include the prefectures of Imathia, Kilkis, Pella, Pieria, Serres and Chalkidiki. According to 2001 census, 7.4% of the total population of Greece lives in Central Macedonia, which is equivalent to 814,127 inhabitants.

The EPA of Central Macedonia covers an area of 15,462 square kilometers, representing 11.7% of the total area of Greece. In EPA of Central Macedonia will also be included the industrial zone in Platy, and the cities of Veria, Naoussa, Katerini, Serres, Edessa, Giannitsa and Kilkis.
 

EPA in Central Greece and Evia

 
DEPA has already developed distribution infrastructure around 160 km of medium and low pressure network , while the geographical areas of activity are the prefectures of Viotia, Evia, Eyrytania, Fthiotida and Fodika. According to 2001 census, 5.5% of the total Greek population resides in the region of Central Greece and Evia, which is equivalent to 605,329 inhabitants.
 
The EPA of Central Greece and Evia covering an area of 15,549 square kilometers, represents the 11.8% of the total area of Greece. Within the competences of the EPA in Central Greece and Evia, there are also the industrial areas Inofyta and Schimatari and the cities of Thebes, Levadia, Amfissa, Lamia and Chalkis. 


Gas Supply Companies under study

 

According to recently passed Energy Act 4001 22.08.2011 No 179, there is provision for the establishment of two more new EPAs, the EPA in Epirus & Western Macedonia and the EPA in Peloponnese.
 
The establishment of the two companies will take place after the completion of high pressure network construction in the respective geographical areas.
